Elul: Repentance in an age of flux
Nice article, though rather confusing. I don't have a religious background so maybe I am missing some things.
Some concepts discussed here about realizing a better self reminded me of the book 'Aspiration' by Agnes Callard.
Sorry if its a bit convuluted, it was the first article I wrote. (I just republished it) I hope I've improved since then. Looking back on some of my older stuff I'm trying to say too many things in one go. I hope you still found some value in it.
I like some of the stuff I've heard/read from Callard. I actually first heard her speaking around the topic of teshuvah here: https://18forty.org/podcast/agnes-callard-a-philosophy-of-change/
This is a really important piece. It was very clarifying as to what our perspective regarding Teshuva should be.
So good!! Wow.
Also loved the reference to Sin-a-gogue 😉... I actually just ordered it, don’t tell anyone I haven’t read it yet.
This is the chizuk I need for what I was writing today.
